Continuity is the governing requirement. A production line that stops because of a supply fault costs far more than the equipment that caused it, so the distribution scheme, the protection grading and the standby arrangement are specified together rather than separately.
Efficiency is the second axis. Correctly sized transformers, power factor correction and a distribution layout that keeps cable runs short reduce losses that would otherwise be paid for every hour of every shift.
Typical scope: medium voltage switchgear and transformer substations, low voltage main and sub-distribution boards, power factor correction, generator systems and the connection between them.
