Air insulated metal enclosed modular panels perform the switching and control duty in medium voltage networks and can be arranged side by side in modular form. Panels of differing function are lined up together to build the switchgear configuration the installation requires.
The low voltage compartment houses all the secondary circuits needed for control: protection, monitoring, communication and the associated systems. The busbar compartment contains electrolytic copper conductors selected for the rated current, together with insulators and bushings. Access to the busbar compartment requires specific instructions and safety precautions.
Main circuit equipment includes SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, SF6 load break switches and disconnectors, voltage transformers, current transformers, medium voltage fuse arrangements, capacitive voltage dividers, and cable glands and connection components.
The relevant standards are IEC 62271 (high voltage switchgear and controlgear, common specifications), IEC 62271-200 (AC switchgear up to 52 kV), IEC 62271-100 (AC circuit breakers), IEC 62271-102 (AC disconnectors and earthing switches), IEC 62271-105 (AC switch-fuse combinations), IEC 61869-2 and IEC 61869-3 (current and voltage transformers) and IEC 60273 (post insulators).
Six panel types are available: circuit breaker incoming/outgoing panel, load break switch incoming/outgoing panel, fused load break transformer protection panel, circuit breaker bus coupler panel, auto-producer panel and voltage metering panel.
