Gas Insulated Switchgear

Gas insulated switchgear is designed for medium voltage distribution networks as compact or modular SF6 insulated switching and control assemblies.

All equipment forming the main circuit — switching devices and busbars alike — sits inside a stainless steel tank filled with SF6 gas. Unlike air insulated panels, these units are therefore unaffected by altitude, humidity and moisture.

The transformer feeder uses a vacuum circuit breaker with a self-powered relay. Tripping through the self-powered relay requires no additional auxiliary supply. Indoor and outdoor versions are available.

The 36/40.5 kV range carries the same construction to a higher voltage level. Because gas insulated panels can be installed in considerably less floor area and volume than their air insulated equivalents, they are the preferred choice in many distribution networks.
