Sheet Steel Kiosk Substations

Sheet steel kiosks are compact transformer substations manufactured from galvanised steel sheet to IEC 62271-202 in the dimensions required by the project.

The construction uses a hot-dip galvanised steel frame, electrostatic powder coating and NPU base profiles. Inner walls are 1 mm galvanised sheet, outer walls 2 mm, and the frame 3 mm hot-dip galvanised. Internal arc classification to IAC A and B is offered, with protection classes from IP23 to IP54.

Operating conditions are specified as −5 to +50 °C ambient temperature, pollution degree Class 3, maximum solar radiation of 1000 W/m², and 0.5 g horizontal and vertical seismic withstand. HVAC, fire detection and suppression systems are available as options. The design accepts every type of LV and MV board and can also be built on a trailer or skid.

In chimney type kiosks, power enters and leaves through chimneys on the roof. Energy is carried to the MV disconnector inside the kiosk by copper busbars running within the chimney. This type is mainly preferred across Central Asia and the Caucasus.
